Summary:
When Yano borrows Nana’s homework he finds the picture she pilfered from Yamamoto and gets mad, ripping it in two, when Yamamoto sees it and wants it back. Mad at Nana for snooping around other people’s stuff he ignores her for the whole weekend. While he is celebrating Takeuchi’s birthday one of his friends calls Nana from his cell asking her to come over but when Yano notices this he grabs the phone telling Nana she doens’t have to come and hangs up.

Angry, Nana decides to show up, bringing a present for Takeuchi just to spite Yano. She succeeds in annoying him, with a little help from Takeuchi playing on his jealousy, and he ends up tossing the present out the window(or atleast pretending to). Seeing this, Nana gets furious and splashes a glass of water in his face before storming out. Yano rushes after her and holds yet another self centered speech and somehow they make up.

The next day Yano and Nana are doing their homework at Nana’s place when Yamamoto appears outside, wanting to speak with Yano. Probably angry because Yano tore her picture she’s ready to stir some shit up and asks Yano if he wants to know why her sister were in her old boyfriends car at the day of the accident.

Thoughts:
Wow, Yano really is a jerk after all. He’s way up there on his high horse talking about betrayal and his egocentric views and at the same time, without even a single thought of remorse, is able to destroy someone’s obviously important memento. He so deserved any crap Nana sent his way in this episode and I can only hope she becomes even more harsh to him if he keeps screwing up and acting like a complete idiot. The way he talks about how he was betrayed and how noone understands him is so incrediously annoying. Get. The. Fuck. Over. It. The way he keeps carrying the past with him and even applies it to the present will hinder any kind of development for him and I think it’s a real problem, probably one he will need counselling for.

While it’s good that Nana only takes so much of his crap she forgives him too easily and that’s not helping him. She needs to make him understand that he is wrong and better shape up if he doesn’t want to lose her. Just look at him telling her not to be nice to any other guy than him because he gets jealous, and then at first chance he plays on her jealousy when they find out a girl wants to speak to him. Can you smell the hypocrisy? If I met Yano in real life I would hate his guts.

I’ll even break my unwritten rule of never using screencaps with text in them(and downloading the raw takes too long) too because I felt so sorry for Yamamoto this episode. She should just hook up with Takeuchi and live happily ever after.

I feel the same way. Yano is really a jerk.
I do kind of understand how he feels, but hell … he’s lying and hiding stuffs from Nana, and she didn’t even do anything wrong. Is it even bad to ofeer someone a little souvenir on their birthday?
And Nana should not forgive him so quickly alright … he just gets brattier.
What’s with the “No one understands my pain!”. It makes me mad.
Still, I’ve got to dmit Bokura ga Ita is and unusual realistic show. That so does happen in real life. Guess that’s why I like it so much.

Nice post by the way! Love the way you get your thoughts through, bare and naked.

Thank you! :) I think Yano is so afraid of getting hurt that he ends up overreacting to anything. Like you said I think it’s perfectly normal to bring a small gift when someone has a birthday, (although Nana had some devious motives behind it, but still. ) And I agree with you, it is pretty realistic which is also why I love it. Besides any show that can get me this riled up is a success in my book.

This anime really does mess with the emotions. I had thought that Yano really was trying to make it work with Nana, but the jerk keeps lying to her. You are so right about his constant reminiscing, I don’t think there’s anything else that has irritated me so much as that.

In my opinion, Takeuchi deserves a happy ending more than anyone else so far. Him, and Yamamoto. Takeuchi obviously cares alot for Nana but is willing to let her be with Yano for the sake of her happiness, and Yamamoto’s been exploited and ostracized, I wish I could give her a hug.

And somehow, even though I’m flaring up everytime Nana falls for one of Yano’s lies, I still have the need to keep watching.

Here’s hoping that Takeuchi and Yamamoto have their happy endings.

I think the reason why it’s so addicting is just because it manages to pull at our emotions. I’ve gone through a good bit of the emotional spectrum during the course of this series from happiness to anger to pity etc. And Takeuchi is definately the most sympathetic character so far like you said. He should get more screentime!

sorry but the drama and hypocritical actions are…uhm..the WHOLE POINT! instead of writing a story where every character is perfect and they all get along, the author is portaying the foolishness of teenage love with overexagerated episodes. She is showing how youth can act stupid with love, and selfish no matter what. This is what a depressed teen really act like: a hypocrit. If the characters were perfect and we all fell in love with them it would be BORING and there would be no story, just the same shoujo dribble, which this series comes really close to being…
Take Romeo and Juliette as an example, if you have ever read or seen the original, they were ANNOYING as hell! but the world loves them for Romeo’s fickleness and Juliette naivity.

I think you’re misunderstanding me, I know well that the whole point of this show is the drama but I also never said I didn’t enjoy it. The fact that I get all riled up when watching is a good indicator that I’m loving it, because a bad show won’t move my emotions even the slightest bit.
